Two Victims Identified in Brown University Attack as Law Enforcement Persist in Search for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in the recent mass shooting at Brown University were being remembered Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their killer carried on following the freeing by Rhode Island officials of the sole person of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was called “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which honored her memory at a gathering on Sunday.

Her role included the vice-presidency of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. Karoline Leavitt also shared sympathies on social media, stating: “It's indescribable. Remembering her family and friends, especially her parents.”

The Second Victim

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, from Uzbekistan in his freshman year at the renowned school, his family confirmed.

Umurzokov’s identity was verified by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. He had big dreams of entering the field of neurosurgery and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

What Happened

Nine more persons were wounded in the violent event in the engineering building of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Law enforcement reported late Sunday that a man aged 24 arrested in a raid at a lodging about 17 miles from the university earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“There is a killer at large,” declared the state's top prosecutor, Peter Neronha.

Neronha explained, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you must reassess and go in another, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”

Community Anxiety

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “This will probably generate renewed concern for our community”.

The shooter discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the building on Saturday, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm handgun, a law enforcement official reported to the news agency.

Officers that entered the lodging recovered a pair of pistols and magazines when the suspect was detained, as was reported.

Those Hurt

Of the nine hurt, one student was discharged from care, mentioned Brown’s president, Christina Paxson. Seven others were in critical but stable condition, and another was critically ill, police said on Sunday.

A private school, a private K-12 school in the city of Durham, said Kendall Turner, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

Cook was honored at a religious service in Birmingham on Sunday. A reverend stated, “She shone as a remarkable, stable, devout beacon not only in her youth... but at Brown University she was an incredible light in that institution as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the group. “Ella was recognized for her fearless, heroic, and gentle spirit as she aided her club and fellow classmates,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “extremely sorrowful” by the passing of Umurzokov in a statement. “We extend our sincere condolences to his relatives, friends, and schoolmates and mourn the loss of his bright future.”

Saturday’s killings at Brown, the nation’s seventh-oldest university with about 7,300 undergraduate and postgraduate students, occurred during one of at least 392 mass shootings reported in the US so far in the current year, according to statistics. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
