Torrential Rains Exacerbate Situation for Displaced Palestinians in Gaza, UN Caution
Persistent precipitation over the last seven days have intensified the extremely difficult living conditions of the vast number of displaced residents in the territory, according to aid groups.
"Terrible" Night Brings Severe Dangers
A representative described the weather overnight as "awful", with downpours so heavy that around 15cm (6in) of water accumulated on the ground.
"Last night was exceptionally horrendous for the residents. The downpours were so powerful... And the winds were so powerful," said the official.
There is extreme anxiety that minors sheltering in tents in wet attire will fall victim to hypothermia and other ailments.
Casualties and Widespread Loss
Medical officials have stated that one baby has died from the cold and a minimum of 11 other people have died in roof cave-ins due to the storms.
Further statements put a greater death toll. Spokespeople reported that several residential buildings had collapsed completely and scores had collapsed partially.

Aid Efforts Considered Insufficient
Organizations have increased shipments of shelter, blankets and clothing after the truce commenced, but they stress there is continues to be not enough aid getting in.
"Officials are working relentlessly to bring in that relief and to hand it out, but the magnitude of the needs is so enormous that we are faced with many thousands of people and children who are genuinely enduring hardship each evening," stated one representative.
Future Issues and Ceasefire Provisions
The next stage of the agreement involves plans for the reconstruction of Gaza, along with future administration, the pullback of troops, and other conditions.
Relief groups have stressed the necessity for "expanded and ongoing aid to meet urgent and ongoing requirements."
The war was triggered by an attack in October 2023. Later actions have resulted in a substantial number of fatalities in the region, according to official reports.
