Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in south-east Queensland were left without power on Monday morning after intense storm systems impacted the area, producing powerful gusts topping 109 kilometers per hour.

Locals witnessed substantial frozen pellets reaching sizes of 7cm in some areas. The Bureau of Meteorology verified that multiple regions across the state had been hit with significant hail.

Rescue organizations handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the region, mainly for property damage but also for downed trees and inundation.
