It's tough for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to an additional six T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the peak baggers, are what's still available for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, in truth, a compliment to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batters to possess a record if never given the possibility.

Ultimately, the consequence of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy getting a chance to deliver her newest gem.

That loss "pushed us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the final and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not come up short.

The question of whether this latest epic knock surpassed that earlier display is debatable.

Some will argue the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when facing a record target and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to predict.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she was the highest scorer, but this knock came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it's been a disappointing period because I feel like my form was missing completely," said Healy.

"But once you enter the playing area, your fighting spirit kick in and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has continuously been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, out to the emerging pace bowler in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and after that the right-hander was underway.

"A chance to take the field and lock in a contest with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at the World Cup - and her ton in 84 balls as she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

Once she was dismissed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an achievable target now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I'm happy we have the assurance to do that now," added Healy.

"Ideally we won't need to do it another time but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing Australia's opponents at this World Cup want to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this victory following success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - an encounter Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those physical issues have postponed consideration of ending her career, this championship is anticipated as her final tournament as skipper in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as captain.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her ultimate challenge.
