An individual who spiked treats with tranquilliser and provided them to minors at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two boys who were between nine and ten.
The accused was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up experienced illness at Stathern Lodge in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the judicial center on recently.
However, he disputed one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was against a young boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody ahead of a subsequent court date on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, described the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he ran.
Ruben engaged in a "candy game" with the youngsters, the legal counsel stated, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "as quickly as they can".
She told the court the man had played this game with the boys "repeatedly", and minors had previously fallen ill the next day.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had worries in recently.
The legal representative continued: "Recently" his stepchild had suspicions about the situation, justifiably.
"They chose" to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC said objects including infant oil, ointment and medical needles were located, and his family member alerted the authorities about his suspicions.
She explained the man proceeded to conduct the "candy game" with six children that night - Saturday 26 July - and they were all ill the next day.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that time," she added.
The oversight body, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was reviewing the police response of the situation.
The legal representative stated the children were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson called the authorities again.
She explained the man then conducted the "candy game" in a room of five minors.
