Grief as Popular South African DJ Killed in Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been fatally gunned down in the nation's economic hub Johannesburg, sending shockwaves across a nation grappling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the central business district on the afternoon of Tuesday.
Police said the 40-year-old media personality was accosted by three suspects, with one opened fire on him before fleeing on foot.
The purpose of the incident remains unclear and no one has been arrested are in custody, as per the official statement.
The Fatal Incident
Law enforcement indicated that Stock was ambushed as he was departing from a building near the city center landmark.
He had devoted time at the site supervising the implementation of security systems, which had been controversially occupied by unidentified individuals, according to reports.
"It is alleged the victim was confronted by three unidentified men after he parked his car, and they shot at him before running from the location on foot," an official report confirmed.
CCTV footage reportedly captured a suspect with dreadlocks and clad in what looked like a security uniform firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but collapsed a short distance away.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and nothing was taken during the assault.
Crucial forensic evidence, like spent shells, were discovered at the scene.

Police have appealed members of the public who may have witnessed the attack to assist with the investigation.
"We know they walked a long distance after the attack, and officers have been attempting to locate them to establish their destination," added an official.

His sister, Nicole Stock, expressed the relatives are devastated to process his death.
"Words fail me. I don't have words," she stated.
"Everyone understood he was a champion for numerous individuals. He spoke out bravely about issues not many people were willing to speak about. This is a devastating blow."
She urged the citizens to avoid sharing graphic images from the scene, explaining this was an deeply traumatic time, particularly for Stock's young family.
